Shopping: New Tools for the Kitchen

Fun new toys and tools for the kitchen from Sur La Table.

A. Small Sifter. Specifically for decorating with cacao and powdered sugar.

B. Scharffen Berger Bittersweet Chocolate. 70% cacao, my favorite. I’ll chunk part of it for my Bittersweet Chocolate Chunk Cookies

C. Tempered Glass & Cocktail Shaker. The proper way to shake a cocktail. The glass is screened with some great cocktail recipes and a measuring guide. The metal container is filled with ice and ingredients, then the glass is locked in upside-down. Shake. I’m taking orders

D. Spanish Olive Wood Spatula, Slotted Spoon and Serving Spoon. Beautiful and serviceable

E. Ginger/Garlic Grater. Attractive French grater for ginger and garlic

F. Ceramic Peeler. Ultra-sharp [watch your fingers], long-life, advanced ceramic blade won’t affect the taste or smell of food. Dishwasher safe, rust-proof. Very lightweight and easy to use. Even has eye-corers built into the design

G. Two 17" x 12" Silicone Non-Stick Baking Mats. My choice for sticky choux dough, cinnamon buns, and brown sugar lace cookies. Dishwasher safe, oven-proof to 600°F, microwave compatible

H. Le Creuset Large Spatula, Medium Scrapper, Small Spoon. Stain-proof. Heat-proof to 800°F. Removable, dishwasher-safe heads. They’ll look great with the orange ones I have
